About Glasgow
Since the time it was hailed as 'Second City of the
Empire', through its acclamation as European City of Culture, 1990, and
UK City of architecture and Design. 1999, Glasgow has been renowned for
its friendliness, and has always looked out to the rest of the world with
a welcoming attitude. That's why you'll find the Victorian House so 'Interestingly
different'.
Glasgow boasts Britain's second biggest shopping district.
The City Centre or 'downtown' area is the largest shopping zone outside
London and contains all the big high street chains as well as a wealth
of the unusual.
From designer clothes and lively cafe-bars at the Italian Centre or Princes
Square to Europe's largest glass covered mall at St Enoch Square or Argyle
Street and Sauchiehall Street the city has it all.
Interestingly Different
Glaswegians certainly know how to enjoy themselves. Glasgow city centre
has over 50 clubs and that's on top of the 100 or so pubs and bars. Friday
and Saturday nights see the streets swell with people moving from one
place to another.
